What You Need to Know About PCBA Testing

To ensure product quality, PCBA testing is an essential link. As a back-end step in the production process, it is an important means to ensure the quality of PCBA.

The purpose of PCBA testing

In the process of PCBA production, due to various factors such as production materials, production personnel and equipment, it is difficult to ensure that the produced PCBA is intact. Therefore, a PCBA test is required to ensure that the performance parameters of the PCBA shipped to the customer meet the designer's requirements. The purpose of PCBA testing is to ensure that the quality of PCBA can meet customer requirements and avoid defective products.

PCBA testing is the most critical quality control link in the entire PCBA production process. It is necessary to strictly follow the PCBA testing standards and test the test points of the circuit board in accordance with the customer's Test Plan.

PCBA test includes 5 main forms: ICT, FCT, Burn In Test, Fatigue Test, Severe Conditions Test.

ICT (In Circuit Test) mainly tests the continuity, voltage and current values, fluctuation curves, amplitude, noise, etc. of the circuit.

FCT (Functional Circuit Test) requires IC programming. The tester will simulate the function of the entire PCBA, find the problems in the hardware and software, and be equipped with the necessary production fixtures and test racks.

Burn In Test is mainly to energize PCBA and electronic products for a long time, keep them working and observe whether there are any failures. Electronic products that have passed the Burn In Test can be sold in batches.

Burn In Test

The fatigue test is mainly to sample PCBA and perform high-frequency and long-term operation of the function to observe whether there is failure. For example, click the mouse continuously for 100,000 times or turn on and off the LED light 10,000 times to test the probability of failure to feedback the working performance of the PCBA in the electronic product.

The test under Severe Conditions mainly exposes the PCBA to extreme temperature, humidity, drop, splashing, and vibration, and obtains the test results of random samples, thereby inferring the reliability of the entire PCBA batch of products.
