HMI

HMI is a study of the interactive relationship between the system and the user. The system can be a variety of machines, it can also be a computer based systems and software. The HMI interface usually refers to the part that is visible to the user. The user communicates with the system through a HMI interface and performs operations.

The Three Stages of HMI

The first stage

When the computer was just born, the keyboard was transplanted from a typewriter to a computer. People could only communicate with the computer through character commands. At this time, the corresponding operating system was only DOS. Most people who have studied computers know that learning DOS needs to remember many commands operate, and you need to be familiar with the function of each key position of the keyboard. Therefore, the threshold of the earliest personal computer HMI is very high. Ordinary users must have a period of professional learning if they want to operate a computer proficiently. Although the HMI method is very poor, it is the first time to enter the personal market as a computer, and the keyboard is the most primitive The interactive tool that can provide the computer to recognize text input is a big improvement in itself.

The second stage

The mouse was invented. The mouse was invented to make it easier for people to use the computer. By controlling the mouse to move the cursor freely on the screen, the way of HMI has become one step closer. The mouse has been available as early as 1968, but what really made the mouse popular was the McIntoshi computer launched by Apple in 1984. The reason why the mouse function can be fully utilized is due to the first extensive application of the graphical user interface to personal computers. . Then the Microsoft Windows operating system came out, a completely graphical window system, so that the computer can no longer do without the mouse. The mouse has become an indispensable part of the peripherals of the computer. In fact, the most important reason is the demand for the graphical interface of the operating system.

The third stage

Handheld computing devices have entered a new era of experience. Although keyboards and mice have maintained the development of computers for more than 30 years, they have become inadequate under the impact of the mobile Internet trend. At the same time, smart phones, tablet computers, personal PCs, and other products have quickly become popular. The trend has accelerated the transformation of HMI.
