Something You Need to Know about Back Adhesive on Graphic Overlay

Back adhesives are ready to be torn off and used. They are easy to assemble, carry and disassemble. They are thin and light, have good adhesion and good temperature resistance.

 

Pasting steps of back adhesive

 

1. Make sure the surface to be attached is flat, rust-free, oil-free, and dust-free. If necessary, use petroleum ether or alcohol to clean it.

 

2. Place the graphic overlay on the back adhesive to check whether the size and position are correct. This helps find possible problems before pasting.

 

3. Peel off the centrifugal paper at the bottom of the graphic overlay about 10mm from the edge.

 

4. Put the graphic overlay in the corresponding position, paste a part of it, then slowly tear off the remaining centrifugal paper, and then paste all the parts.

 

Precautions

 

1. The back adhesive can't be pasted repeatly. It must be completed in one go.

 

2. The tearing angle should not exceed 20°. Otherwise, there will be bubbles.

 

3. When trying to press the graphic overlay, place it flat on the table. Do not hold it in your hand and press it. Otherwise, it will shorten the service life.

3M55236

 

3M55236 is popular. It's cheap. It is made of non-woven cotton paper adhesive. The thickness is about 0.12mm. It is translucent, and has a temperature resistance range of 90℃ to 120℃. The peel strength is 11.5N/10mm.

 

3M55236 is a universal double-sided adhesive with durability, good temperature resistance and strong adhesion. It is recommended for conventional graphic overlay. Repeated pasting may cause the back adhesive to break.

 

3M9448A

 

3M9448A is made of non-woven cotton paper adhesive. The thickness is about 0.15mm. It is translucent, and has a temperature resistance range of 70℃ to 150℃. The peel strength is 14N/10mm.

 

3M9448A has good initial adhesion and lasting adhesion. It is easy to cross-cut, and has good adhesion to plastics, rubbers, and rough surfaces. It has good lasting adhesion at high temperatures.

 

3M467MP

 

3M467MP is made of pure adhesive without substrate. The thickness is about 0.05mm. It is transparent, with a temperature resistance range of 149℃ to 204℃. The peel strength is 5.5N/10mm.

 

3M467MP has excellent bonding effect. It can prevent falling off, and has excellent waterproof performance, good processability and good adhesion. 3M467MP is resistant to high temperature, has super strong adhesion and no residual glue.

 

3M468MP

 

3M468MP is made of pure adhesive without substrate. The thickness is about 0.13mm. It is transparent, with a temperature resistance range of 149℃ to 232℃. The peel strength is 8.5N/10mm.

 

3M468MP has excellent adhesion and waterproof performance, good processability, good temperature resistance, and good adhesion. The centrifugal paper is waterproof kraft paper with a polymer coating, which will not wrinkle in high temperature.

 

3M300LSE

 

3M300LSE is made of pure adhesive without substrate. The thickness is about 0.17mm. It is transparent, with a temperature resistance range of 93℃ to 149℃. The peel strength is 9N/10mm.

 

3M300LSE has excellent thermal stability, chemical stability, initial adhesion, strong bonding effect, high physical stability and chemical stability. It also has excellent waterproof performance, good die-cutting processability, good temperature resistance, and strong holding force.

 

Peel strength refers to the force required to peel the back adhesive off the surface of something. Under the same unit of length, the larger the peel strength, the more force is required to peel it off.


 

How to choose

 

3M55236 and 3M9448 are suitable for metal casing, PCB, ABS, rough stainless steel and aluminum alloy. Repeated pasting will easily cause the adhesive to break.

 

3M467 and 3M468 are available for all smooth and clean surface of plastic casings. Repeated pasting will easily leave residual adhesive.

 

3M300LSE is OK for most smooth surface. It has strong waterproofness. The adhesive is not easy to break, and has strong viscosity. It supports repeated pasting.
