In today's diversified social division of labor, colors are iconic, such as white for ambulances, green for mail trucks, red for fire trucks, white and yellow markings on roads, and camouflage on military supplies. This is a symbol that transcends nationality and culture, and it is also the charm of color itself. Here, color is a kind of silent language, which can instantly convey a kind of information that the object itself cannot directly transmit, so that different people can have a common cognition by simply recognizing colors without resorting to other methods.

Therefore, as an indispensable part, color is deeply rooted in industrial design. It is an indispensable design factor for designers to express their inspiration, and it is also an important constraint in consumers' purchasing decisions.
For many industrial products with special textures, such as metallic effects, we cannot rely solely on color measurement instruments when measuring their appearance and color. These special effect colors are difficult to accurately restore. Therefore, designers need to use more scientific color measurement methods-non-contact image testing methods to communicate the colors of the pre-design.

The non-contact image test method is to use a completely enclosed adjustable standard light box to completely avoid the interference of external light and accurately capture the image of the object. We can simulate the human visual effects of multi-angle transformation by changing the observation angle. In addition, the non-contact measurement method of the system is not limited by the size and shape of the product. The appearance status of paper, leather, wood, plastic, glass, metal and other materials can be accurately obtained.
Under normal circumstances, in the mass production process of industrial products, the front-line production personnel need to control the color difference between the standard sample and the bulk sample, and between the raw material and the finished product. Sample images and colors are stored in the database in a standard digital format, saving the storage cost and space occupation of physical samples.
The combination of color and image can help designers to replace the colors on the product on the screen. In the color replacement, the texture of the material and the details of the sample pattern are retained, the virtual sample is generated, and the document can be saved for transmission. Customers can check the product design directly on the screen. Therefore, customers and manufacturers do not need to produce physical items, and easily complete the process of communicating and confirming the color of the sample on the screen.
Whether from the industrial design or industrial production level, non-contact measurement provides designers and producers with a more convenient way to obtain color data and images. Designers and buyers can communicate through emails, without the need for factories to produce actual samples. The designer can confirm the desired product color before producing the finished product, and the producer can control the color difference easily in the product color detection and control, which greatly saves the time cost of various aspects of industrial products.
