Briefly Introduction of PCB Production Process

Many engineers or customers have never seen the PCB production process. Today, JRPanel will briefly describe the PCB production process for everyone, so that everyone can have a general impression of the PCB production process.

1. Cutting

Cutting the raw material of the copper clad laminate into the size we need is called cutting. The process of cutting is to improve the utilization rate of raw materials and reduce the price of veneer.

2. Pre-treatment

Remove contaminants on the copper surface, increase the roughness of the copper surface, and facilitate the subsequent lamination process.

3. Laminating

The processed copper surface of the substrate is pasted with a resist dry film through hot pressing.

4. Exposure

The image on the original negative film will be transferred to the photosensitive base plate after light irradiation.

5. Development

The dry film that has not undergone chemical reaction is washed away by the action of lye, and the reacted dry film is left on the surface of the board as a resist protection layer during etching.

6. Etching

The copper exposed after development is etched away with the chemical solution to form the inner layer circuit pattern.

7, Remove the film

Use strong alkali to peel off the resist layer protecting the copper surface to expose the circuit pattern.

8. Punching

Use CCD to punch out positioning holes and rivet holes.

9. AOI inspection

Through automatic optical inspection, compare with samples or original data to find out the shortcomings.

10. Drilling

Drill through holes on the PCB surface to connect the lines between the layers.

11. Polish copper

Remove burrs on the edge of the hole to prevent poor plating holes.

12. Electroplating

Use electrolysis to prevent metal oxidation and improve wear resistance and conductivity.

13, Solder mask

Leave the parts on the PCB board that need to be soldered, and cover other circuits and copper surfaces to improve electrical performance.

14. Silkscreen

It is convenient for the maintenance and installation of the circuit, and the logo pattern and text code are used for annotation.

15. Surface treatment

For better soldering reliability, thermal stability, and surface flatness, the PCB board surface treatment is done.

16. V-CUT

It is convenient and smooth to cut the original jigsaw into veneers.

17. Electrical testing

Conduct bare board tests on the electrical performance of PCB boards to meet customer needs.

All PCB boards are produced through the above processing flow, but different layers of PCB boards will have different processing times.
