Product Overview:

A red light therapy device is a phototherapy equipment that emits red visible light at specific wavelengths (mainly 600–700 nm) for therapeutic irradiation. This wavelength band penetrates deeply into human tissues, promotes cellular metabolism and tissue repair, and is clinically used to assist in reducing inflammation, relieving pain, and accelerating wound healing. It is applicable in various clinical departments such as dermatology, surgery, gynecology, and otorhinolaryngology.

By Light Source Type

Laser?based red light therapy devices mainly use a single wavelength (e.g., 650?nm) laser, offering strong penetrating power.

LED?based red light therapy devices use LED light sources, with common wavelength combinations such as 660?nm red light and 850?nm near?infrared light. There is an emerging trend towards “de?laserization” in red light therapy, with LED technology being adopted to enhance safety.

By Intended Use

General?purpose red light therapy devices are applicable in multiple departments such as dermatology, surgery, gynecology, burn care, and pain management, where they serve as adjuncts for reducing inflammation, relieving pain, and accelerating wound healing.

Special?purpose red light therapy devices are designed for specific clinical departments or conditions—for example, myopia,blyopia treatment devices (often referred to as “nurturing light” devices) and ENT?dedicated equipment (commonly equipped with specialized optical fibers).

By Regulatory Class

Most general?purpose red light therapy devices used for adjunctive treatment of skin, wounds, etc., fall under Class II medical devices in China.

According to regulations of the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA), starting from July?1,?2024, laser?based devices intended for myopia and amblyopia treatment must be managed as Class III medical devices; production and sales are not permitted without certification. Meanwhile, LED?based red light devices for myopia control may be approved as Class II medical devices, provided they comply with relevant guidance principles.

By Device Form

Handheld red light therapy devices are compact and portable, suitable for personal use or local treatment.

Benchtop or floor?standing units are larger in size, often equipped with adjustable support arms and casters, and are intended for use in healthcare facilities. Some devices feature a 360°?rotatable treatment panel, detachable components, or different treatment heads (e.g., original beam, optical fiber) to accommodate treatment of various body parts.
